Vince McMahon, a major figure in the wrestling industry known for his significant contributions, has faced numerous controversies throughout his career. After stepping down in 2022 due to hush money allegations, McMahon briefly returned as executive chairman during the WWE-UFC merger but fully resigned in 2024 amid sexual assault and sex trafficking claims.

Recently, several well-known guests appeared on Piers Morgan's show, The panel included former WWE star Maven Huffman, ex-WWE backstage interviewer Charly Arnolt, former announcer Jonathan 'Coach' Coachman, and former WWE head writer Vince Russo, along with popular journalist Phil Mushnick.

When Mushnick was asked about Vince McMahon’s character, he made an unexpected comparison.

Phil Mushnick Stated :

“My empiral knowledge, my knowledge based on research, based on interviews and interviews with really good people. I’ve met some wonderful people. Bruno Sammartino was one of the most noble people I have met cause he told the truth. But based on what I know of Vince McMahon, He’s the closest thing to the fictional character, Hannibal Lector I’ve ever met.” ( Piers Morgan's show/Inside The Ropes)

After the harsh comparison, Mushnick added:

“He is that sick. I think he is a sociopath.” ( Piers Morgan's show/Inside The Ropes)

In the same interview with Piers Morgan, former WWE head writer Vince Russo shared how things changed in WWE after he left. He claimed that McMahon became more involved in creating highly sexualized storylines once Russo was no longer with the company.

Vince Russo Stated :

“When I was writing, what the Attitude Era was all about, Piers, was blue collar versus white collar. Well, when I left, all of a sudden there was a shift and that shift was all of a sudden Vince is on camera with all these beautiful women, making out with them, kissing them, groping them. They are groping him.

Now, Piers, you gotta understand something, and everybody here will understand this, as a writer I could have never written any of our female characters in that position because they couldn’t have said ‘no’. They would have had to say ‘yes’ because it was with Vince McMahon and they would have thought if they didn’t do this, they were going to be fired. So when I saw this type of behaviour, after I left, it never sat well with me. Now, I don’t know if that came from Vince or the writers.” ( Piers Morgan's show/Inside The Ropes)

However, former interviewer Charly Arnolt, who was also on the show, denied ever being mistreated in the business. While many things have been said about Vince McMahon, it’s undeniable that his contributions to wrestling are significant, and he has done a lot for the industry we see today. On the other hand, we cannot ignore the numerous controversies surrounding him, some of which are quite shocking.
