Uncertainty surrounds Sam Reinhart's Game 4 return as Florida Panthers eye Stanley Cup final berth

Send Push
The Florida Panthers are now on the threshold of making it to the Stanley Cup Final for the third time in a row; however, the status of Sam Reinhart, one of the key forwards, is not yet cleared. It is still some hours before Game 4 in Florida against Carolina on Monday night, and there is uncertainty over Reinhart's status. He nevertheless did not play Game 3 because of a lower-body injury, but the Panthers have not officially ruled him out, keeping everyone guessing. His presence could prove to be a decisive factor in Florida sealing the sweep.

In a 6-2 spanking in Game 3, the Florida Panthers inched closer to sealing their place in the Eastern Conference Final. Meanwhile, their top scorer of the regular season, Sam Reinhart, was on day-to-day status with a lower-body injury from Game 2. Head coach Paul Maurice said on Tuesday that Reinhart is not cleared to play, nor is he ruled out from playing, so the team will be waiting and watching leading into Monday's game. A final call is expected sometime after the team skates in the morning.

Revinhart's absence during Game 3 proved to be of big significance. However, an injury to the opening was given to Jesper Boqvist, who entered and immediately did wonders. Not only did Boqvist fill the vacancy left by Reinhart on the top line with Aleksander Barkov and Evan Rodrigues, but he also scored the go-ahead goal at the beginning of the third period. Five-goal uprisings occurred for Florida in just over 10 minutes during the third period, showing that even if their top scorer was sidelined, the Panthers still had an offensive hand to give.

In the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Reinhart gathered 11 points in 14 games, and during the regular season, he was fundamental for the Panthers, leading the club with 39 goals and 81 points. He came home OEM defensive player, a Selke nomination, and potentially game-changing with his return.

Fractures arose in Game 3 as Defenseman Niko Mikkola and Forward A.J. Greer left the ice with an unopened injury concern. However, both are expected to recover and be ready for Game 4, according to Maurice.

The Panthers can't force Reinhart back in the lineup, but they aren't rushing either, with a dominating 3-0 series lead and all the momentum. If Reinhart is ready and returns, the bench will be heavily in Florida's favor on the path to a renewed opportunity for the Stanley Cup.
