An air hostess was reportedly sexually assaulted while on ventilator support in the ICU of a prominent private hospital by a staff member, according to police on Tuesday. The authorities are reviewing the hospital's CCTV recordings to identify the assailant.
The 46-year-old victim was hospitalised after becoming unwell following a swimming session at her hotel's pool, as per police reports.
She was admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram on April 5 and was discharged on Sunday, according to her statement.
Her complaint states: "On April 6, I was on a ventilator when some hospital staff sexually assaulted me."
The air hostess informed her husband about the incident post-discharge, before approaching law enforcement.
Based on her complaint, police registered an FIR against unidentified hospital staff members at Sadar police station on Monday.
A Gurugram Police spokesperson stated, "The victim's statement has been recorded before the magistrate in the court. The police team is examining the footage of the hospital's CCTV cameras and will soon identify the accused."
The spokesperson further added that an investigation is in progress and the perpetrator will be apprehended shortly.
