BJP engaging in voter list fraud with the help of EC: Sanjay Raut on Maharashtra and Jharkhand polls

NEW DELHI: As Maharashtra and Jharkhand prepare for upcoming Assembly elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has leveled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) on Sunday, accusing them of tampering with voter lists in both states ahead of the polls.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Raut alleged that the BJP is resorting to electoral fraud due to fear of losing the elections in Maharashtra. According to Raut, in every constituency where the BJP is contesting, around 10,000 voters, who had supported the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Lok Sabha elections, are being removed from the voter list and replaced with bogus voters.

He further claimed, "There is manipulation happening in the voter list in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and also attempts were made in Haryana. In Maharashtra, BJP is about to lose the elections, so they are engaging in voter list fraud with the help of the EC. In every constituency where BJP is contesting, they are removing 10,000 voters who voted for MVA in the Lok Sabha and replacing them with 10,000 bogus voters to reduce our chances of winning."

"We will not only raise this issue domestically but also on international platforms, showing how democracy is being destroyed. The EC comes under the home ministry, and Amit Shah ji is responsible for all of this. If you (Amit Shah) continue such fraud, the country will no longer remain the same," he added.

Earlier, a delegation from the MVA approached Maharashtra’s chief electoral officer, S Chokalingam, demanding an investigation into the alleged deletion of 2,500-10,000 names from electoral registers in 160 assembly segments where MVA had a lead during the Lok Sabha elections.

The delegation led by state Congress chief Nana Patole and other senior leaders from Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP, submitted a memorandum urging more transparency in the electoral process . They also demanded the rejection of Form 7, which allows for the deletion of voter names, and asked for a public disclosure of those who requested the deletions.

MVA leaders accused the BJP of using Form 7 to systematically remove voters perceived to be supportive of the MVA, alleging that the names of 2,500-10,000 voters have gone missing in areas where their candidates had been leading. They have called for immediate action to ensure fairness in the upcoming elections.
