Russian state TV cheered for Donald Trump as the president imposed reciprocal tariffs across the world, leading to a global economic meltdown. Russia has been kept out of the list and political scientist Dmitry Kulikov said on a TV program that Trump's tariffs look like the end of the global system that is 50 years old. "This is the Swan Lake; Trump is playing the Black Swan," Kulikov said.
“The price of goods will certainly go up in the United States,” Kulikov predicted, according to Daily Beast. “The old political and economic global system is practically dead.”
Host Vladimir Solovyov said: “What we’re observing is an event of historic proportions.” Solovyov added that “Trump destroyed the trust” while undermining America’s economy.
“In reality, a monument should be erected to him,” Solovyov said. “This was a major blow to the system of capitalism.” “After the blow Trump delivered against the global economy and global capitalist economy, I think he deserves at least a Sutulov medal ,” he added.
The Sutulov medal is a worthless award that is given by a master to his servant, Daily Beast explained. “We have to award him something,” Solovyov went on. “A monument of him sitting on a horse or the title of an honorary economist—he has to get something.”
“To deliver this kind of a blow—well done, old man!” Solovyov said.
Russia was kept out of the list as the White House said that US sanctions already "preclude any meaningful trade". But Russia is rattled as oil prices continue to plummet. Moscow sounded an alarm as oil prices dropped to $60 per barrel yesterday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, "Of course this indicator is very important for filling the budget. Our authorities are very closely monitoring the situation, which is currently extremely turbulent, tense, and emotionally charged. We aim to take measures in order to minimise the consequences of this economic storm."
