President Donald Trump addressed speculations of his running for president again in 2028, though the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution prohibits a person from being elected to the presidency more than twice. Trump never shies away from these speculations; rather, he stokes them, as in his last interview with the NBC, he said he was not joking when he said he was contemplating running again in 2028.
In an interview with TIME on the occasion of his first 100 days in office, Trump said he's being inundated with requests. "I'd rather not discuss that now, but as you know, there are some loopholes that have been discussed that are well known. But I don't believe in loopholes. I don't believe in using loopholes," Trump said.
You wouldn't run as vice president to JD Vance? Trump was asked.
"I don’t know anything about, what, look, all I can say is this, I am being inundated with requests. I'm doing a good job. Great physical exam, and unlike every other president, I took the cognitive test and I aced it 100% and I bet you guys couldn't get 100% on that exam. It's a tough exam. You know, when you get into the mid questions, it gets to be pretty tricky and pretty tough, and the last questions are very tough, and I aced it. And I guarantee, I'd give you, I'd make a big, beautiful bet that you guys couldn't ace it. But anyway. But look, it's good to have you, it’s a very nasty interview. They don’t ask any of the good things," Trump said.
The interview was taken on April 22 and was published on April 25. In between, Trump's merchandise site launched Trump 2028 hats and T-shirts. Trump's son Eric posed with a new red cap, priced at $50, and wrote 'never say never'.
Trump can't run for President for a third term but he can run for the Vice President in 2028. And the speculations are that JD Vance will run for president with Donald Trump as his running mate. If they are elected, JD Vance would step down, making way for the vice president to become the president.
