A luxury yacht sank off Turkey’s northern coast on Tuesday, just 15 minutes after leaving shore on its first trip. The incident happened in the Eregli district of Zonguldak, where the 85-foot vessel, named Dolce Vento , had been launched after being delivered to its owner from Istanbul.
Video recorded by bystanders showed the yacht gliding into the water before suddenly tilting to one side. Within minutes, the boat was sinking nose-first into the sea.
The yacht’s owner, along with the captain and two crew members, were on board when the accident occurred. As the yacht began to go under, they jumped into the sea and swam to safety. All four managed to reach the shore without any injuries.
Coast Guard units and port teams quickly responded to the scene. Authorities set up a security perimeter around the sinking site to prevent other vessels from coming close while the situation was brought under control.
Officials at the shipyard confirmed that the cause of the sinking has not yet been identified. They said that a detailed technical inspection of the yacht will be carried out to determine what led to the failure.
